At DermaVita Holt we have always been committed to making our clients feel great within themselves. Our DermaPlus service allows our clients to have minor lumps, bumps and moles to be removed that are not eligible for NHS treatment. Our Clinic Doctor will take care of your every need. Please speak to our experienced team to find out more or to book your first meeting.
We require all clients to have a DermaPlus Consultation with our clinic doctor, Dr Deol. Before your consultation we do require you to have seen your registered GP regarding your concern to ensure that any Minor lump, bump or moles are not eligible for NHS Treatment. At your consultation Dr Deol will ask for a brief medical history of the lesion, will assess your lesion, ensure there are no contraindications as to why surgery would not be suitable, take measurements if required and go through the plan of surgery as well as answer any question or queries you may have. If you would like to go ahead we will add your to our surgical list which takes place every 12 weeks (approx.)
Once you have had your consultation with our clinic doctor and been added to our surgical list we will be in touch when a date has been arranged with our general surgeon Mr Paul Cullen.
On the day of surgery it would be much appreciated if you could please arrive 10 minutes before your appointment time but please bear in mind that your appointment time is an estimate and because of the general nature of minor surgeries you may be called in later than the time given, we thank you in advance for your patience, if this is the case. After surgery you will be given a date if stitch removal is required and the lesion removed will be sent off for histology. This is all included in your surgery cost.
Below are some of the risks associated with surgery, and what to do if it occurs.
Bleeding: If the wound bleeds, press on it firmly for 10 minutes with a clean kitchen towel or dressing. If the bleeding persists, repeat for a further 10 minutes. If it is still bleeding after 20 minutes please contact us on the number below or your GP.
Infection: Rarely, the wound may become increasingly red and painful or discharges pus, in which case it is probably infected. Please contact us on the number below or your GP.
Scarring: All surgical wounds will result in a scar. On rare occasions, and especially for surgery over the shoulder and chest, surgery can result in the development of a large, itchy scar (sometimes called keloid scarring) over the following months. If this happens please contact your GP.
Warfarin medication: If you are taking Warfarin medication please ensure that you have an INR blood test the week before your procedure. The result will need to be below 3.
If you have a pacemaker, please mention to the Nurse when you attend for your surgery.
Please keep the dressing clean and dry for a least 48 hours, if the dressing gets wet please change for a dry breathable dressing. Do not use any make-up or other cosmetics on the wound.
If you have had any stitches, please do not go swimming until they have been removed. The stitches should be removed approximately two weeks afterwards and you will be given an appointment for this.
The wound may resemble a cigarette burn for 2 -3 weeks until it is fully healed and may begin to bleed again after you leave the surgery, if this is the case please press firmly on the wound for at least 10 minutes with a clean piece of gauze or paper towel. We will provide you with a clean dressing to take home in case you need to change it.
Should you experience any discomfort please take your usual pain killer until the discomfort subsides.
If you have any concerns regarding any of the advice, please do not hesitate to contact us on 01263 802333
